We humans have always held our kids since their birth , be be holding them physically or emotionally . It comes very naturally to us as we are responsible to keep them healthy and safe.
During their growing up years , we want to hold onto our kids to help them evolve to their truest potential.
In today’s world , we parents face real tough competition for ,holding on ,getting connection with our children .
It’s easier to connect with wifi or bluetooth but difficult to connect with emotions of other person , especially our own children,more so if they are tweens or teens.
We parents have very less margin for error space , especially if we are connecting with our tweens and teens .
Our children are amid distractions and simulations of today’s culture of digital connectivity which gives us less scope to connect on emotional level.
To gather children under our wings ,we need to bring our collecting instincts into awareness and focus on them consciously .
Collecting Dance ,we are fine tuned to since the birth of our child .Have you ever noticed as adult around infants (may be their own or other kids) ? Are you aware that our wooing instincts of either smile or nod or some cooing sounds ,just comes naturally before we collect the child ,wither play ,connect or carry infant in arms. Parents require a context to be effective in connecting with their children.
We parents need to relearn the collecting dance .
We can be aware of the GPA , we can follow to connect with our child.
GET IN THE CHILD’S SPACE IN FRIENDLY WAY, WITH A SMILE AND CLEAN ENERGY (Please clear all your beliefs and assumptions, should’s and have to’s)
PROVIDE SOMETHING FOR THE CHILD TO HOLD ON TO , MAY BE SMILE OR A NOD (Connect with him/her)
ACT AS THE CHILD’S COMPASS POINT BUT LET HIM BE THE MAIN NAVIGATOR .(Listen and be on your breathe , suggest when you feel he/she is ready )
Always remember that connection well made is the groundwork for effective communication .
It’s connection and communication with our children ,which can help us be their leader and hold on to them .
